Sheena Marie was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Her family moved to Somerville, New Jersey when she was just three years old. She was partly raised in New Jersey until the age of 11, in which her family then moved to Camden, South Carolina. At first, she hated South Carolina so much that she did not want to leave the house. Her cousins would joke about the same town being so country and nothing like the city. Sheena Marie’s love for books and writing flourished as she grew up in South Carolina, but her experiences of living up north and down south contribute to her reality of writing. She loved spending time with her great-grandmother while she lived in New Jersey. Everyone called her “Granny”. She would sit and watch WWF wrestling together and their favorite wrestler to watch was Hulk Hogan. She lost those moments with Granny when she moved to South Carolina as Granny moved to Arizona to stay with family. Sheena Marie cherished every moment she had with Granny growing up as she played a significant role in her life.
Sheena Marie considers her family very dear to her heart. She is the mother of a handsome teenage boy. The birth of her son changed her life for the better, and she deemed herself to strive to be the best mother she could be. Motherhood grew a little harder for her after the death of her son’s father. Her son lost his father at the tender age of 3 years old. The loss has left an empty hole in both of their hearts, but Sheena Marie continues to put her best foot forward as she raises her son. Family is everything to her, and she strives to be there for all of her family members. If she is not spending time with family and close friends, you can find her reading a good book when not working on her own craft.
Growing up, Sheena Marie was fascinated with books, and this interest intrigued her to start up a hobby of her own with writing. She started out writing poetry and short stories to entertain her friends. Sheena Marie has a love for music as well, and even gotten into writing song lyrics. After meeting her son’s father, they spent many nights writing song lyrics together. They connected over their love for the same artist and enjoyed spending hours together listening to music. Writing was a hobby that has grown over the years into a passion Sheena Marie just cannot turn away from. In 2019, she decided to write her first book. She knew her short stories to be a good read, so she focused on a novel. This is when “Lily’s Faith” began to develop. She took great pride in her work but had to place the book on the back burner after her marriage started to crumble in 2020. Sheena Marie married a close friend of many years in April of 2016, but as their marriage ended in 2021, they realized they would be better off as just friends. Nevertheless, Sheena Marie is a strong woman who overcame many trials in her life, so this necessary divorce was welcomed as she knew she would overcome this obstacle as well.
Sheena Marie places her faith in God as she wakes up every day so she can keep moving forward. She gives thanks to God for all of her blessings. She also incorporates her love of Christ in most of her writings as she wants people to know how the love of God can be all the strength needed not to give up. Sheena Marie strongly believes that whatever situation you are going through, good or bad, God is with you and will bring you to the other side bigger and better.
Sheena Marie writes about real-life experiences, in the hope of letting people know they are not alone in whatever it is they are going through. Her stories and poetry shine light on the good, bad, and ugly aspects of everyday life. Sheena Marie writes fiction stories but will soon introduce non-fiction works based on her own experiences. These non-fiction stories will be published under the series “Just My Opinion.” Stay tuned to this website, as Sheena Marie will post short stories for you to enjoy in between her published work. Her first novel, “Lily’s Faith," is currently available on Amazon.
